4” diameter and 5.5” tall.
You will often see this species of tree lining the banks of rivers or creeks, or at least in low-lying areas as these trees need an abundance of moist soil to grow well. These trees can grow extremely large and yet are mong the least stable of wood from which to build. Due to this, it is very seldom used in furniture making but it is an enjoyable wood to work with as a woodturner. After it is completely dried, and sealed in an epoxy finish, it is perfectly stable. Occasionally, the deep rust coloration and the nice spalting patterns that can occur in this species work together to create a look of age even on newly finished pieces.
