2” diameter and 2.75” tall
This wood species has become one of my favorites in the past year or so due to how well the wood takes to being shaped on the lathe, but more than that, because of the spectacular way the wood spalts during the decay process. I absolutely adore it and I like the colors as well as they are cooler (in temperature) than the Maple species I often work with. These trees grow quite large and are very similar to beech trees in appearance, with the addition of “warty” looking areas on the bark of the tree. This small form has a perfect teardrop shape with wonderful spalting.
