3.5” tall by 2.75” diameter.
On this form, I oriented the piece in such a way that the spalted sapwood is at the top of the form for a really great contrast. Fungal colonies move into a tree when its on the ground undergoing the process of decay and their work of decomposition build visual interest into these pieces. The dark lines near the top of this pieces is called zone line spalting. White oak is a beautiful wood and is often used in furniture making due to how stable it is. It was the prized choice of those who specialized in craftsman and arts and crafts style furniture, popularized by Gustav Stickley in the early 20th century.
