4.25 diameter and 7.75” tall 

This species is considered one of the American exotics and is especially prized among  furniture and cabinet makers. The beauty of the grain with the warm yet very dark colors put it  forward as one of America’s finest woods. Known for the large nuts this tree produces, this tree  is both a cash tree for the nuts they produce and the lumber from these trees. These trees can  grow quite large and are often found on very old homesteads as the trees are also long living  trees. I love working with this species not only for the delicious dark heartwood, but also for the  nice contrast between the lighter colored sapwood and the aforementioned heartwood.
