#171 Tulip Poplar
#171 Tulip Poplar
$285.00
2.25” diameter by 2.25” tall.
This species produces the tallest trees east of the Mississippi River. The tallest in the world is the Fork Ridge Tulip tree in a secret location in the smoky mountains of Western North Carolina and tops out at a whopping 192’ tall, and that was in 2011. In the spring, this species produces a flower in the branches that looks like a small tulip. In this piece, you can see the contrast between the cream colored sapwood and the greenish as well as almost black colored heartwood. This piece is perfectly shaped with a darker color than you typically see with this species. I love the very small opening at the top with a subtle lip.
