Long considered one of the American exotics, Black Walnut is a staple in the high-end furniture market as well as exclusive kitchen cabinetry. It is also highly prized by woodturners due to its stability and the beautiful contrasts between the lighter colored sapwood and the chocolate tones of the heartwood. This piece has a great, classic shape and a delightful rim at the top. This piece is turned on a sideways orientation so you can see the exact center of the tree easily as well as the radiating growth rings. Additionally, this form has my signature “stitching” method where I infuse branches from different trees into a natural low area in the wood, surrounded by a dark fill of clear epoxy resin and recycled coffee grounds. This piece met my personal requirements for inclusion in the premium “Black Series”
